Rubio: US-Iran technical talks to begin June 30

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said upcoming technical talks with Iran as part of ongoing negotiations are expected to begin on June 30 and will involve expert-level discussions on various issues.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, speaking to reporters in Kuwait, Rubio said the talks will include working groups focused on areas such as nuclear energy and sanctions.

“They are at the staff level, experts on nuclear energy, as an example, on sanctions, and so forth,” Rubio said.

“There’s individuals from the State Department that will be involved in those talks, along with people from the Department of Energy, and so forth. That’s what the technical level is,” he added.

Rubio also emphasized that Iran should allow nuclear inspectors to enter the country “as soon as possible,” saying it was a commitment Tehran had made and needed to fulfill.
