US eases sanctions on Venezuela following earthquake

The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a General License temporarily authorizing transactions related to earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela through Oct. 23, 2026.

Axar.az reports, citing OFAC, that the license permits transactions otherwise prohibited under U.S. sanctions to support humanitarian relief.

The license does not authorize the unblocking of frozen assets or activities banned under other U.S. sanctions programs.
