Slovakia opposes new military funding for Ukraine

Slovakia will not support additional military loans or financial contributions for Ukraine.

Axar.az reports, citing Slovak media, that Prime Minister Robert Fico said he plans to hold consultations next week with senior officials to ensure that the Slovak delegation attends the July 7–8 NATO summit without a mandate to approve new military funding for Kyiv.

"Do you know what could happen? A drone—whether intentionally or accidentally—could fly here, hit a residential building, cause deaths or injuries, and we could have World War III on the table. Therefore, on behalf of Slovakia, I say: no support for war. Slovakia will not pay Ukraine's military expenses," Fico said.

He was referring to expected discussions at the NATO summit on expanding military assistance to Ukraine, including new aid commitments and increased defense spending by alliance members.
