Netanyahu plans to form 'broad national government'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that he intends to form a "broad national government" following the next parliamentary elections, calling for greater national unity amid ongoing security challenges.

Axar.az reports, citing JP, speaking at a press conference, Netanyahu accused unnamed groups of seeking to deepen divisions within Israeli society.

"We must make every attempt to solve problems with broad understanding and agreement," he said. "There are enemies outside and they are certainly waiting for us to start a civil war. And I say as Begin said, no more civil war. I intend to establish a broad national government."

"Not a left-wing government that would be dependent on the Arab parties. Only this way can we reach agreements among ourselves, and that means no more boycotts. Everyone will be able to agree to our principles," Netanyahu said.

The announcement came during a press conference on the newly signed U.S.-Israel-Lebanon trilateral agreement and was met with criticism from several opposition politicians.
