Turkiye may sell S-400s to South Korea to revive F-35 bid

Turkiye is considering selling its Russian-made S-400 air defense system to South Korea as part of a possible arrangement that could help revive its bid to rejoin the F-35 fighter jet program.

Axar.az reports, citing Euractiv, that the sale of the S-400s to a third country—rather than returning them to Russia—has been discussed as a potential condition for a breakthrough in talks with Washington over the F-35 program.

South Korea has been mentioned as one possible destination.

The report also said U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled he may take steps to improve defense ties with Turkiye, fueling speculation that Washington could reconsider Ankara's participation in the F-35 program.

Any move to allow Turkiye back into the program has raised concerns in Greece and Israel, both of which oppose the sale of F-35 fighter jets to Ankara, arguing it could alter the regional military balance.
