The upcoming NATO summit in Ankara will focus on alliance unity, increased defense spending, stronger defense industry cooperation, and support for Ukraine.
Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Turkish Defense Minister Yashar Guler said the alliance is adapting to a changing security environment and that the United States has no intention of withdrawing from NATO, although Washington expects European allies and Canada to assume greater responsibility for regional security.
He also said Turkiye is evaluating all options to strengthen its air defense, including the possible acquisition of SAMP/T and Patriot air defense systems.
Guler added that Turkiye aims to meet all of NATO's capability targets by 2029.
