Armenian commander arrested in Yerevan

Edik Maloyan, deputy commander of the 5th defense district of the so-called “NKR army,” has been detained in Yerevan.

Axar.az reports, citing Armenian media, that Maloyan is accused of illegally obtaining and publishing information containing state secrets.

“Not having the right to access information containing state secrets, E. Maloyan persuaded officer R.J., who had the relevant clearance, to provide him with such information. He then published the classified information obtained illegally,” the statement said.

Both defendants have been arrested, and investigators have asked the court to order their pre-trial detention.

Maloyan took part in the April 2016 clashes and the 44-day war in 2020.
