Deadly armed clashes erupt in Northwestern Iran

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has carried out an operation in northwestern Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing the IRGC Telegram channel, that a five-member armed group planning sabotage and terrorist activities near Iran’s northwestern borders was destroyed.

The IRGC said the group was linked to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran.

According to the report, the group was detected through intelligence monitoring in West Azerbaijan Province and later fell into an ambush by IRGC forces with fire support from the Hamza Sayyid al-Shuhada headquarters.

The IRGC said the five-member group was eliminated.
