Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said the main obstacle in relations with the United States is not mediation, but Washington's policy.

Axar.az informs, citing Iranian media, that Araghchi made the remarks while speaking to journalists during Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidan's visit to Tehran.

"We currently have no problem with mediation in our relations with the United States. The problem is the type of approach of America, and that is their irrational, excessive and domineering approach, which has been met with strong reactions from us," he noted.

He added that there would be no basis for progress in bilateral relations until the United States understands that it must respect the Iranian people and the country's national interests.

"There is no need for any exchange of messages on this issue. It is enough for the United States to reconsider its policy," he said.
