Iraqi PM postpones Saudi visit after US-Saudi strikes

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi has postponed his planned official visit to Saudi Arabia following deadly U.S.-Saudi airstrikes targeting Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that the visit was delayed "in light of today's events," adding that "the Iraqi side requested the visit be rescheduled."

Al-Zaidi had been scheduled to travel to Riyadh on Thursday.

The joint strikes, carried out early Wednesday, targeted logistical sites and weapons depots belonging to Iran-backed militias in northern and southern Iraq.

According to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), at least 20 fighters were killed and 32 others wounded.

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani condemned the attacks, describing them as "a blatant violation of Iraq's sovereignty" and "a clear breach of international law."
