Georgia is commemorating the 18th anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, honoring the memory of those who were killed in the conflict.

Axar.az reports, citing Georgian media, that the Georgian national flag has been lowered over the Government Administration building in Tbilisi in tribute to those who lost their lives.

Under a government order signed by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, national flags have been lowered at administrative buildings across the country.

The decision honors those killed as a result of Russia’s large-scale military intervention against Georgia and the subsequent illegal occupation of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region.
