US to deliver Patriot interceptors to Ukraine monthly

US President Volodymyr Zelensky said on August 8 that Ukraine has reached an agreement with the United States on monthly deliveries of interceptors for Patriot air defense systems, but warned that the quantities will be insufficient.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyiv Post, that speaking at a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, Zelensky said the number of Patriot interceptors Ukraine will receive in 2026 will be lower than in 2025.

“Who has the anti-missiles and systems? Primarily the manufacturer – the United States of America,” Zelensky said. “Can they help? We are working on it. Will they supply us with missiles every month? Yes, we have agreements. Are these missiles enough? No.”

Zelensky said Ukraine was negotiating with European countries, particularly Germany and Poland, as well as Scandinavian countries, to secure additional interceptors.

“The Germans and Poles can seriously help,” he said. “Other countries are helping little by little.”

He added that the number of interceptors expected in 2026 could not be disclosed.

“I’m not giving a specific number; I can’t disclose it to the Russians, nor can I [reveal it – ed.] to our partners. There will be fewer of these missiles in 2026. There were more in 2025,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky later said the agreements on US weapons supplies had been reached as part of the PURL program, under which Ukraine purchases weapons, primarily air defense systems, using funds provided by partner countries.
