Israel rejects 15-point Gaza reconstruction plan

Israel has rejected a 15-point plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip proposed by the Board of Peace.

Axar.az reports, citing JP, that speaking at a cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israel Defense Forces would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas was “genuinely disarmed.”

“Israel rejects the 15-point Gaza document proposed by the Board of Peace. The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.”

Netanyahu also reiterated his opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state, saying that as long as he remains prime minister, there would be no Palestinian state in Gaza or the West Bank.

“As long as I am prime minister, there will be no Palestinian state, not in Gaza and not in Judea and Samaria. Neither ‘Fatahstan’ nor ‘Hamastan.’”

He said Israel was holding talks with the United States over Hamas’s disarmament but insisted that any disarmament must be genuine and include all of the group’s weapons.

Senior Hamas official Basem Naim told Reuters that Hamas remained committed to the roadmap agreed in Cairo and expected mediators and the United States to pressure Netanyahu’s government to adhere to it.

Netanyahu also warned Iran against attacking Israel, saying Tehran knew Israel would respond with a “powerful blow.”
