One killed, two injured in Kamchatka mine blast

One person was killed and two others injured in an explosion at the Asacha gold deposit in Kamchatka.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the regional Center for Disaster Medicine confirmed the incident.

"According to preliminary information, one person was killed and two others were injured in the explosion. They are in stable but serious condition, and a decision is being made on whether to evacuate them by ground or air transport," the regional Center for Disaster Medicine said.

It added that a helicopter flight is currently impossible due to weather conditions. Until an aircraft can take off, the injured will receive medical assistance from the ambulance service of Yelizovo District.

The Asacha deposit is one of the key gold deposits in Kamchatka Krai. It is located in Yelizovo District, in the upper reaches of a left tributary of the Asacha River.

The deposit is part of the South Kamchatka mining district and is located approximately 30 kilometers south of the Mutnovskaya Geothermal Power Plant.
