Yechiel Leiter warns Lebanon against delaying peace talks

Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, said Hezbollah’s attack on Israeli soldiers in the Security Zone violated the ceasefire agreement.

Axar.az reports that Leiter made the remarks on X.

"Hezbollah attacked IDF soldiers operating in the Security Zone, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

In response, the IDF acted decisively against the Hezbollah commander who ordered the attack — a terrorist who used his own family as human shields inside a Hezbollah military headquarters.

If the Lebanese government uses this incident as a pretext to delay or discontinue peace talks, it would hand a tactical victory to the enemies of peace. Derailing the talks is precisely what Hezbollah is trying to achieve," the statement reads.

It should be noted that Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Israel’s strikes were a “clear signal” in the context of negotiations between the two countries. The next round of US-mediated talks is scheduled to take place in early September.
