One killed after vessel hit in Strait of Hormuz

A vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz suffered engine room damage and a crew casualty after being struck by an unknown projectile.

Axar.az reports that according to a statement posted by UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) on X, the vessel was struck by an unknown projectile while conducting an outbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz.

The impact damaged the engine room and resulted in a crew casualty. The remaining crew members are currently being assisted by the Omani Coast Guard.

No environmental impact has been reported at this time.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

UKMTO advised vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz with caution and report any suspicious activity to the organization.
