One dead after blast at Amur Gas Chemical Complex -

One person has been killed and 87 others injured following an explosion and subsequent fire at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in Russia’s Amur Region.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that the explosion occurred at a methanol processing unit at the complex, which was preparing to begin operations. The fire initially covered an area of about 2,000 square meters.

The blaze has been contained, and the facility’s main equipment was not damaged. About 50 people were evacuated from the site.

Emergency services are working at the scene, while the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
