2 killed as car rams into pedestrians in France -

Two people have died and 10 others were injured after a man drove a car into a group of people in the northern French city of Caen.

Axar.az reports, citing French media, that the incident occurred late Wednesday night outside a bar near the city’s train station. The 26-year-old driver, who was born in Russia, was detained following the incident.

Police said the first victim died at the scene, while a second person died early Thursday. Seven of the injured remain in critical condition.

According to a police source, the incident is believed to have followed a fight. Calvados Prefect David Claviere said the driver “deliberately drove into pedestrians” on a street opposite the train station.

Authorities are investigating the incident. Officials have said there is currently no indication of a terrorist motive.
