CIA Director John Ratcliffe proposed a trilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Moscow earlier this week.

Axar.az reports, citing Axios, that Ratcliffe raised the proposal during talks with Russian intelligence chiefs Sergey Naryshkin and Alexander Bortnikov as part of efforts to restart US-mediated peace negotiations.

US officials briefed Zelensky on the proposal on Friday. Zelensky has previously supported such a meeting, while Putin has rejected the idea.

Ratcliffe's visit was also aimed at assessing whether Russian intelligence officials could help persuade Putin to resume negotiations.
