Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said that Armenia’s accession to the European Union is a sovereign decision for Yerevan, while Moscow has had no contacts with Armenia on the issue.
Axar.az reports, citing local media, that Overchuk said “No” in response to a related question while speaking to reporters at the Eastern Economic Forum.
“Armenia’s accession to the EU is a matter for Armenia. However they decide, that is how it will be. It is their sovereign right,” he added.
“Our right is to decide on issues concerning the preferences Armenia will lose if it moves closer to the EU,” Overchuk noted.
