Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia did not agree with Ukraine to a broader three-day ceasefire beyond a halt in strikes on the capitals.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Putin made the remark during a meeting with U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

He noted that Russia had halted strikes on Kyiv for three days starting September 5, while the Ukrainian side had significantly reduced strikes on Russian territory.

“Ukrainian authorities issued a call for a broader three-day ceasefire, but we never agreed on this with them,” he said.

“But we will do everything within our power to ensure the security of the negotiating process and of the mediators, represented by you and those accompanying you,” the Russian president told the U.S. negotiators.
