Three Russian military aircraft landed at India’s Noida Airport for the first time on Tuesday, marking the first landing by any foreign aircraft at the newly opened airport.

Axar.az reports, citing India TV, that the arrival is being linked to preparations for Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India and the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

The aircraft landed on the airport runway at around 5:30 am and included the Russian military transport aircraft IL-76. A Russian advance team and military officials are believed to have arrived on the aircraft. Airport authorities are also preparing for the possibility that Putin's aircraft could use Noida Airport during his India visit.

It should be noted that the BRICS summit will be held on September 12–13.
