Leader of the Strong Armenia party and businessman Samvel Karapetyan has sued Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, demanding a public apology and 3 million drams (nearly $8,000) in compensation. The lawsuit was reported on the Datalex judicial information website.
Karapetyan is also demanding that Pashinyan publicly retract statements he made on May 29, either during a live broadcast or on his social media page.
The lawsuit stems from a statement by Pashinyan in which he threatened to “feed Karapetyan mushrooms” in court, using the phrase figuratively.
In essence, the lawsuit is a countersuit by Karapetyan against Pashinyan.
It should be recalled that Karapetyan and Pashinyan are already involved in two other legal disputes, although Pashinyan is the plaintiff in those cases. In 2026, he filed two lawsuits against Karapetyan: the first on May 7 over statements concerning “hallucinogenic mushrooms,” and the second on May 25 over claims that Pashinyan owns a home in Canada. In both cases, Pashinyan demanded a public retraction and 6 million drams in compensation for each lawsuit.
