At least four killed in bomb attack in western Colombia

At least four people, including a two-month-old baby girl, have been killed after a lorry carrying explosives detonated near a military base in western Colombia.

Axar.az reports, citing the BBC, that the explosion occurred on Sunday in the town of Planadas, in Tolima province, damaging a nearby hospital, a pharmacy and several other buildings.

Tolima Governor Adriana Magali Matiz confirmed the deaths, describing the bombing as a “vile and criminal act” and condemning the targeting of civilians.

It remains unclear who was responsible for the attack. However, armed criminal groups have recently intensified attacks on security forces amid a government offensive against illegal armed organisations.

The bombing followed a separate attack in neighbouring Huila province on Saturday, when a motorcycle rigged with explosives killed a police officer and injured six others.
