Armenia and Turkiye begin direct trade processing

Trade between Armenia and Turkiye has begun to be processed directly, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has said.

Axar.az reports that he made the remarks during parliamentary committee discussions on the draft 2027 state budget.

Mirzoyan clarified that goods are still physically transported between the two countries through third countries, mainly Georgia. However, whereas the trade was previously also processed through third countries for customs purposes, it is now being cleared directly between Armenia and Turkey.

"As I have repeatedly stated, the process has reached such a mature stage that we can move towards opening the border and establishing diplomatic relations at any moment," the minister added.

He described the dialogue between the two countries as active and effective, noting that a business forum similar to the one held in Kars last summer would take place in Armenia in early 2027.

Mirzoyan also said that efforts to consolidate peace with Azerbaijan were continuing, including the development of bilateral trade and the opening of Armenia's territory for transit shipments.

He expressed confidence that Azerbaijani cargo would also begin passing through Armenian territory once the TRIPP route becomes operational.
