Switzerland has adopted measures included in the European Union's 21st package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, expanding restrictions on individuals, companies and entities over Moscow's war against Ukraine.
Axar.az reports, citing the Swiss Federal Council, that the measures include asset freezes and travel bans targeting an additional 254 individuals and entities, as well as stricter export controls on 41 companies.
The new restrictions also prohibit transactions involving 33 Russian banks, one bank in a third country, 17 financial institutions and cryptocurrency service providers, five companies based in third countries, four Russian airports and two Russian ports.
A further 41 vessels linked to Russia's so-called shadow fleet have been subjected to comprehensive restrictions on purchases, sales and the provision of services.
The package also introduces additional restrictions on trade, energy and financial services. These include tighter controls on goods that could strengthen Russia's military capabilities, new reporting requirements for transfers of liquefied natural gas tankers to third countries and further restrictions on cryptocurrency-related activities.
Switzerland has also adopted the EU's additional measures against Belarus.
The amendments to the sanctions lists entered into force at 11 p.m. on November 4, while sector-specific measures take effect on November 5.
