The Kremlin believes that NATO exercises in Georgia are subject to close scrutiny.
Axar.az reports that the statement came from Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov. He said NATO's approach to Russia's borders was forcing Moscow to take security measures.
Commenting on Azerbaijan's participation in the NATO exercise, Peskov said Baku was a sovereign state.
"Azerbaijan is a sovereign state, we value our bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. These are partnerships, and there is a common political will for the future development of these relations. Of course, it is important for us that the scenarios of such exercises do not involve any action against our country.
It should be noted that NATO's Agile Spirit exercise has started in Georgia. 15 countries, including Azerbaijan, are participating in the training.
