Melikov was elected leader of Dagestan

Deputies of the People's Assembly of Dagestan elected Sergei Melikov head of the republic.

Axar.az reports that 82 out of 90 deputies of the People's Assembly voted for Melikov.

Melikov was sworn in and officially took office.

On October 5, 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of Dagestan's President Vladimir Vasilyev and appointed him an adviser. Sergei Melikov has been appointed interim head of Dagestan.
