A photo of a woman named Olena Kurilo, who was wounded in Ukraine yesterday, became the headline of world news sites and a symbol of war in one day.
Axar.az reports that Kurilo, 52, gave an interview to the AFP news agency.
Kurilo, a teacher in the eastern Ukrainian city of Chukuev, was injured by broken glass after the blast. The image of the teacher with his face covered in blood and a bandage on his head shocked everyone.
"I am a teacher. We wrote poems about the war, we read in history books, but we never thought that such a thing could happen in our land. No door, no window, not even the floor of my house was completely destroyed. I am lucky to be alive. I was just shocked, but I didn't feel any pain. I will continue to do my best for Ukraine. "Despite all that I have lived, I will stand up and walk, I will always be with my country," Kurilo said.
