The President of the Republic of Iraq Abdullatif Jamal Rashid was invited to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Azerbaijan. The invitation letter addressed to the Iraqi leader President Ilham Aliyev was presented to the President of this country by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Iraq, Nasir Mammadov.

The embassy told AZERTAC that the President of Iraq accepted the letter of invitation with pleasure and expressed his gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for being invited to a global event such as COP-29.

During the meeting, broad views were exchanged on the prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq.
