Arseny Turbin, a 15-year-old schoolboy from the Orlov region, was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of joining the Russian Freedom Legion and distributing leaflets criticizing Vladimir Putin.

It was reported that on August 29, 2023, FBI officers searched the apartment in the city of Livni where Turbin lived with his parents.

On September 5, he was arrested, and the next day he was released under house arrest to attend school. On May 31, 2024, a pretrial detention measure was chosen for him. It was claimed that "under the influence of opposition publications" at the beginning of June 2023, 14-year-old Turbin wrote on the Telegram platform of the Russian Freedom Legion and filled out a membership application. Later, as a member of the "terrorist organization", he wrote to his neighbors' mailboxes in June-July 2023, "Do we need this kind of president?" threw leaflets with the inscription

The teenager himself states that he did not join the legion, he distributed leaflets based on his own convictions, not under anyone's instructions.
