Fires that occurred in Turkiye in June 2024 increased 5 times compared to last year.

Axar.az reports that the "Anadolu" agency has published information about this.

It was reported that 399 forest fires were registered in many regions of Turkiye from June 1 to June 21, when high temperatures were observed. In the corresponding period of last year, 84 forest fires occurred.

At the same time, it was emphasized that 41 hectares of forest area was damaged by fire last year, and 2548 hectares of forest area were damaged this year.

Early drying of vegetation due to high temperature is indicated as the cause of fires.
