The Iranian leadership has no choice but to move the country's political and economic centers to the southern borders of the republic, along the shores of the Persian Gulf.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Iran's President, Masoud Pezeshkian.

"Due to several considerations, primarily economic reasons, it is becoming impossible to continue keeping Tehran as the capital. If it is not feasible to develop the country with the current trend, and if we want to bring resources from the south and the sea to Tehran, then turn them into products and send them back to the south for export, this will increasingly reduce our competitiveness," the president stated.
