European countries stop processing Syrian asylum requests

European countries have decided to halt the processing of asylum applications from Syrian citizens in order to prevent representatives of Syria's former government from fleeing to Europe.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

"Some countries, as far as I understand, are currently deciding to stop processing asylum applications in order to deny asylum rights to fleeing representatives of Bashar al-Assad's regime," the minister said.

It should be noted that Austria, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Cyprus, Norway, Poland, Finland, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ireland, and Greece have previously announced that they would halt the processing of asylum applications from Syrians.
