Since the collapse of the Assad regime, nearly 26 tons of gold have been stored in the Syrian Central Bank’s warehouse. This amount is equivalent to what it was at the beginning of the civil war in 2011.

Axar.az reports that this information was provided by Reuters, citing four sources.

The World Gold Council also reported that Syria’s gold reserves stood at 25.8 tons in June 2011.

One of the sources mentioned that Syria’s foreign currency reserves are currently low:

"The Syrian Central Bank’s foreign currency reserves are only 200 million dollars in cash."
