Expert: Ukraine in better conditions to defend the front

Last year, Ukraine lost more than 4,000 square kilometers of territory. In 2025, Ukraine will have better conditions to prevent Russia from occupying the entire Donbas and breaking through the front lines.

Axar.az reports that Mykhailo Samus, director of the "New Geopolitics Research Network," made this statement to Radio NV.

The expert believes there are positive expectations for 2025:

"All the hardships and hard work of Ukraine and Ukrainians should yield results in 2025, both on the frontlines and in the economy. Destructive processes in the Russian economy should finally begin," Samus stated.

He acknowledged that Putin’s regime managed to endure three full years after the start of the full-scale war, but Russia has been unable to force Ukraine to capitulate.

"At the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, it was said that Russia would try to conquer the entire Donbas. They would attempt to break through the front and force Ukraine to capitulate. What are Russia’s plans for this year? To occupy the entire Donbas, break through the front, and force Ukraine to capitulate. This year, we have much better chances to create conditions that will prevent Russia from achieving these goals, especially since the economic situation in Russia is clearly worsening," Samus said.
