The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, fell ill and temporarily stopped performing her duties.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the EC representative Stefan de Keersmaker.

"Chairman von der Leyen has postponed the implementation of his powers for the first two weeks of January," Keersmaker said.

According to him, due to severe pneumonia, the Chairman of the EC could not attend the swearing-in ceremony held in Gdansk regarding Poland's presidency of the EU Council.
