30 metapneumovirus cases reported in Kazakhstan

As of October 1, 2024, 30 cases of human metapneumovirus infection have been identified in Kazakhstan.

Axar.az informs that this was reported by the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan.

"Since the start of the epidemic season, there have been 2,002,335 cases of acute respiratory viral infections and 941 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza across the country. According to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee, 8,360 samples have been tested nationwide since the beginning of the epidemic season. Of these, 1,866 (22%) samples tested positive, including 206 (11.1%) for coronavirus, 178 (9.5%) for parainfluenza, 113 (6.1%) for bocavirus, and 30 (1.6%) for metapneumovirus," the report said.

It is worth noting that China's Center for Disease Control and Prevention previously reported an outbreak of human metapneumovirus in the country.
