Armenia's reaction to the Zangezur corridor is incomprehensible.

Axar.az reports that official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing today.

Commenting on Armenia's protest note to Russia for using the term Zangazur Corridor in a report aired on the Rossiya TV channel's Vesti Nedeli program, Zakharova noted that this is about the journalist's words.

"We have always heard from Yerevan that Armenia is committed to freedom of speech, and moreover, the current Armenian leadership has made it its imperative. This is, firstly... Secondly, our official position is well known to official Yerevan. We have repeatedly stated the essence of this position, including in our briefings... We have consistently spoken about the comprehensive unblocking of all transport and economic communications in the South Caucasus region on the basis of the trilateral statements signed in 2020 and 2021. First of all, we are talking about the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020. Everything (including the provision on the Zangezur corridor - ed.) is clearly stated in that statement. I have voiced this part of that statement many times, and I will do it again now," Zakharova emphasized.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson reminded that the statement highlights the opening of all transport and economic communications in the region, and that Armenia guarantees the safety of transport links between Azerbaijan's western regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. It was also noted that the control of transport communications on this route is carried out by the Border Troops of the Federal Security Service of Russia.
