The Israeli government has notified families of 33 hostages expected to be released during the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, spanning 42 days. These include women, children, the elderly, and the infirm, considered "humanitarian cases."
Axar.az, citing Times of Israel, reports that the status of the 33—whether alive or deceased—remains unclear. Israel anticipates most are alive but will receive a complete report seven days into the ceasefire. Unconfirmed reports suggest living hostages may be prioritized, with deceased individuals returned later.
The release schedule begins with three hostages freed on day one, followed by four on day seven. Over four weeks, three hostages will be released weekly, with 14 released in the sixth week. Identities will be disclosed 24 hours before each release.
One previously listed individual, Youssef Hamis Ziyadne, 54, was confirmed deceased, and his body was recovered by the IDF. Beyond these 33 hostages, 58 additional Israelis remain in Hamas custody, many believed dead, with their return contingent on a potential second-phase deal and a permanent ceasefire.
