Political consultations were held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom.
Axar.az reports that the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry published a statement on this.
It was reported that Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty.
During the meeting, cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom in the political, economic, energy security, connectivity, climate change and the environment, humanitarian, education, as well as regional and international security issues of mutual interest were discussed.
It was noted that Azerbaijan has proven itself to be a reliable partner in this direction with the huge projects it has initiated and implemented in the field of energy security, and the importance of continuing this positive dynamic of cooperation in traditional energy sources towards the development of alternative energy sources was highlighted. In this regard, it was emphasized that the establishment of cooperation in renewable energy between SOCAR and BP is commendable.
The active participation and contributions of the Prime Minister and the UK delegation to the session, as part of Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), were noted with satisfaction.
The joint initiatives implemented within the framework of cooperation in the field of education, the establishment of new partnerships between higher education institutions, as well as the importance of state programs and the continuation of work in this area, were highlighted.
Jeyhun Bayramov also informed the counterpart in detail about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the progress of the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization and peace process.
It was emphasized that the initialing of the text of the "Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia" as part of the Washington meeting held on August 8, 2025, as well as the issuing of a joint appeal on the closure of the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, were among the significant achievements achieved within the framework of the peace process.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
