A premeditated attack at Iran's Supreme Court on Saturday morning resulted in the deaths of two senior judges, Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh.
Axar.az reports that both judges had significant experience handling high-profile cases related to national security, espionage, and terrorism.
According to the Judiciary Media Center reported by Mizan Online, an armed infiltrator carried out the attack, targeting the judges in their offices. Authorities reported that the assailant did not have any prior legal cases or known connections to the Supreme Court. During an attempt to apprehend him, the gunman reportedly committed suicide.
Preliminary investigations into the incident are underway, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend any individuals or groups behind the attack.
Over the past year, Iran's judiciary has intensified its efforts to prosecute individuals associated with espionage, foreign agents, and terrorist organizations. This attack follows a historical pattern of threats against judiciary officials, including a 1998 assassination attempt on Razini. At the time, Razini was injured when a magnetic bomb was attached to his vehicle.
Iranian officials have not yet released further details on the motives behind Saturday’s attack or any possible affiliations of the perpetrator. The incident has raised security concerns within the country, particularly regarding the safety of officials handling sensitive cases.
Investigations continue, with updates expected as authorities uncover more information.
