Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar has hailed Paraguay’s decision to label the (IRGC) Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hamas, and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations, calling it a “landmark move” in the global fight against terrorism.

Axar.az, citing JP, reports Sa’ar wrote on X: “I applaud Paraguay and President Peña for this landmark move.”

He added: “Iran is the world’s leading exporter of terrorism and extremism, and together with its terror proxies, it threatens regional stability and global peace. More countries should follow suit and join the fight against Iranian aggression and terrorism.”

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña signed new decrees this week, formally designating the entirety of these organizations as terrorist entities. Previously, Paraguay had only listed the armed wings of Hamas and Hezbollah under its 2019 terror designations.

In an official statement, Paraguay reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism, calling it “one of the most harmful threats to the civilized international community.” The government emphasized the need for coordinated international action and reiterated its support for peace, human rights, and democratic values.

The United States also welcomed the move. The State Department congratulated Paraguay for “confronting Iran and its proxies” and praised the expanded designations. “Iran remains the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world and has financed and directed numerous terrorist attacks and activities globally,” the statement added.

Paraguay’s bold stance is seen as a significant step in tightening global pressure on Iran and its allied groups, reinforcing international efforts to counter terrorism.
