Moscow hopes for a swift normalization of relations with Baku. The release of Russian citizens detained by Azerbaijan would help facilitate this process.

Axar.az reports that this statement was made by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

“Currently, bilateral relations with Azerbaijan are, to put it mildly, going through a difficult phase. Russia is determined to ensure this situation does not drag on. We hope for normalization soon. A significant step in this direction would be the release of Russian citizens currently held by Azerbaijani authorities,” Zakharova stated.
