Chechnya's leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, has spoken about the deportation of Chechens and Ingush people in 1944.

Axar.az reports that Kadyrov wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

"Today is a sad date in the history of the Chechen people: on February 23, 1944, by the inhumane order of the cursed Joseph Stalin, Chechens and Ingush people were forcibly deported to Siberia and Central Asia. This criminal order led to huge losses: thousands of people died on the roads, in the harsh conditions of special settlements, from hunger, cold, and disease," Kadyrov said.
