Zelensky tried to openly change Trump's policy by demanding that Putin be recognized as a murderer, but this only made the situation worse.
Axar.az reports that this was said by Alexei Arestovich, a former adviser to the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Administration, about the dispute between US and Ukrainian leaders Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on February 28.
"The Ukrainian president either does not understand the global agreements between the US, Russia, and China or is deliberately trying to humiliate Trump. If you watch the entire video carefully from the beginning, you will see that the conversation began very laudatory. Trump openly stated that he would continue military assistance to Ukraine," Arestovich said.
The former adviser noted that emotions ran high when it came to the rare earth materials deal:
"The point that caused Zelensky's disagreement was the lack of security guarantees. The method he used to appease Trump heightened emotions. The goal he was trying to get from Trump was a public admission that "Putin is a murderer."
It should be noted that the meeting between US and Ukrainian leaders Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House the other day was very tense, and the parties argued in public. Zelensky then left the White House early, and the joint press conference and the signing of an agreement on natural resources with Ukraine were canceled.
