Pope Francis, 88, is recovering steadily at Rome’s Gemelli hospital after a recent pneumonia-related health scare, the Vatican reported Monday.
Axar.az reports that he spent a restful night and no longer requires mechanical ventilation, though he continues to receive high-flow oxygen.
The crisis began when he inhaled vomit, raising concerns over a lung infection. Medical staff acted swiftly, and by Sunday, doctors confirmed he had stabilized with no fever or signs of infection.
Given his history of respiratory issues and past lung infection, his prognosis remains cautious.
Despite missing his Sunday blessing for a second week, Francis issued a written message, thanking well-wishers and reflecting on the fragility of life. He also renewed calls for peace, particularly in Ukraine, writing, “From here, war appears even more absurd.”
