In one of his speeches, Trump rejected accusations of having a "pro-Russian" stance and noted that he "gave Russia nothing but grief." Trump reminded that during his presidency, sanctions were imposed on Moscow and Javelin missile systems were supplied to Kyiv.

"Indeed, everyone clearly remembers that during Trump's previous presidential term, many sanctions were imposed, and arms deliveries to Ukraine began. This indeed happened. In this regard, we can only agree," said Peskov.
He refused to comment on why Trump’s position might have changed compared to his first term. "After all, we're talking about the U.S. president. We hear his statements about his desire to bring peace to Ukraine. This can only be welcomed. We are receiving certain information about possible actions in this direction, which is also to be welcomed. We will then see how the situation develops in reality," concluded the press secretary of the Russian president.
