Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Commerce to develop a comprehensive plan to increase trade turnover with Azerbaijan to $2 billion.
Axar.az informs citing Repоrt, this decision was made at a government meeting on March 4, dedicated to the results of Sharif's recent visit to Azerbaijan.
"Shehbaz Sharif stated that the memorandums of understanding and agreements signed in Baku will be implemented immediately. In light of the Azerbaijani President's statement about intentions to invest $2 billion in Pakistan, the Prime Minister has formed a committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The committee will prepare agreements in the energy and infrastructure sectors," the publications note.
Sharif also instructed the country's Ministry of Commerce to present a comprehensive plan to increase trade volume with Azerbaijan to $2 billion.
Furthermore, the prime minister ordered to complete all preparatory work for the upcoming visit of Azerbaijan's President to Pakistan next month as a priority. Sharif also ordered the appointment of trade representatives in Azerbaijan and other countries where there is significant trade potential with Pakistan.
