France and Britain have proposed a partial one-month truce in Ukraine, covering air, sea, and energy infrastructure attacks but excluding ground fighting, French President Emmanuel Macron told Le Figaro.
Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the difficulty of verifying compliance along the extensive front line.
Macron made these remarks en route to a London summit hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where European leaders discussed a Ukraine peace plan.
The Franco-British proposal suggests that European ground troops would only be deployed in a later phase, not within the coming weeks. Macron stressed the need for increased European defense spending, potentially reaching 3% to 3.5% of GDP. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged awareness of the plan but did not elaborate.
